With winter upon us here in the great white north, this can only mean one thing…the season of combatting dry skin is here to stay for awhile (a seriously long while if you’re in Alberta). Luckily, I have a great homemade skin care recipe to pass on that might just save your skin! All natural ingredients that are actually easy to find in your local health foods store.
The best part about making your own beauty products (other than no chemicals on your bod) is how inexpensive it becomes to refill them. You’ll need to spend a bit upfront to buy the ingredients, but you’ll soon see how a little bit goes a long way and they last you many, many batches.
Ingredients:
– 1/3 cup almond oil
– 1/3 cup coconut oil
– 1/2 cup pure aloe vera gel
– 3 Tblsp grated beeswax (I got a bar of beeswax and then grate it off)
– Optional: 5-10 drops of your favourite essential oil
Instructions:
Heat a pot on the stove with a few inches on water in it, on low-medium heat. Add your beeswax to a 250ml – 500mL mason jar and submerge the jar into your heated pot of water. The beeswax will slowly begin to melt. Stir occasionally.
When melted, add your other oils in. Stir until fully combined. Add your aloe and mix it in. Take off heat and let cool. Option: you could put into blender or Magic Bullet to whip up until all lotion-y like, then store in the mason jar. This recipe makes exactly enough to store in a 250ml jar.

This is awesome. I use straight coconut oil on my skin but its maybe a bit too greasy. Do you know if this has any natural SPF to it?
That’s usually what I do too! Great question too, and honestly I’m not sure. Gonna look into that though 🙂
