[PODCAST] Help Your Clients Reduce Fears About Their Pelvic Floor Symptoms
[NEW] Help Your Clients Reduce Fears About Their Pelvic Floor Symptoms
The fear, nervousness, and anxiety about pelvic floor symptoms is so real and common.
As a fitness or health professional, you MUST have some strategies for helping your clients manage these feelings.
Because they will inevitably arise during exercise or in their daily life activities.
Your client might be experiencing:
👉 Fears about leaking pee, poop, or gas during or AFTER exercise/daily events
👉 Worrying that prolapse symptoms are going to ramp up
👉 Anxiety around pain and overwhelming thoughts about how it’s going to impact their abilities
Clearly, this can be distressing for one’s mental health.
And these feelings of hyper-vigilance? They are felt deep in the body and can perpetuate this very un-fun cycle of core and pelvic floor symptoms being experienced.
So then…how do we support our clients and patients through them?
On today’s podcast episode I’m giving you 5 strategies to use in your coaching with postnatal populations to help them with and in releasing these fears about exercising (or doing life tasks) with pelvic health symptoms.
Super quick rundown – you’ll want to:
1). Give them evidence-based education around core and pelvic floor functions
2). Have conversations regarding their ideas and beliefs about their symptoms or pain
3). Help them find success and confidence in physical tasks with exposure over time
4). Prescribe slow, steady change to their programming (don’t rush them along to where YOU think they could be!)
5). Offer suggestions of physical supports that could help, where applicable (think: pessaries, liners, absorbent underwear, etc)

Ps. These skills must be part of your practice with postnatal populations, regardless of if it’s been weeks, months, or years since their pregnancy or birth.
We’ll teach you how to acquire and hone them in the next class of the Postnatal Fitness Specialist Academy (PFSA). Enrolling now, through June 11th.
PFSA is the ONLY comprehensive certification that helps existing (and aspiring) fitness and health practitioners to support moms and parents in their postnatal recovery.
Over the course of 11 Modules, PFSA will help you get there by teaching you:
1). How to effectively work with new and ‘seasoned’ postpartum people in fitness, exercise, and sport coaching from a pelvic health-informed perspective
2). Concepts, theories, and strategies for training and treating people with diastasis recti, pelvic organ prolapse, urinary and fecal incontinence, pelvic and back pain, and more
3). How to approach postpartum fitness and wellness through a size-friendly, weight inclusive, and non-diet lens
P.P.S. There are only 7 spots remaining in the Group Mentorship track, for access to coaching and accountability to complete your certification in 12 weeks. See you in there?
