Why I Chose to Have an Amniocentesis

by Feb 9, 2018

Today, I’m sharing the story of why I chose to have an amniocentesis in the early second trimester of this pregnancy.

One of the big reasons I chose to talk through my experience with an amniocentesis is because I know how difficult of a decision it can be for moms and families. It can be scary.

You aren’t sure what to expect. What it’s going to feel like. If it will be painful. There are risks. It’s an invasive procedure.

I know women can feel shame and guilt because of their decision to have an amino, re: “why wouldn’t you just do the extra blood work and avoid risk to your baby?!”

I wanted to talk about my experience because it was a positive one. I felt confident in our decision. It was important for MY health and I matter in this pregnancy.
